I have been wondering if there is a way to safely remove the data from a DVD completely. Is there software that will allow you to destroy all the data on a DVD? I know there are shredders etc. that will destroy the DVD physically. I just want to know if there is software that will wipe the information off of the DVD completely. This may be overkill, but I was just curious.

Yeah, kinda what I was thinking too. I thought Nero or something had an "Erase Disc" option, I can't remember.

just take a knife and make a nice deep cut from the center to the outer edge. that will pretty much render the data non retrieveable

Microwave? Wouldn't that melt the plastic causing a huge mess? Sparks? Fire? Nuclear holocaust?

the coating on the disk might fry your microwave oven.

that is a bomb suit, you need a fire proof suit like they use at airports for crashed airliners.

Kaboom!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha!!!!! ,Haa!!!!!! HAA!!!!!!!!!!- Other tahn Flames or Nuking ? { Mr. Microwave ???} You could just Soak 'em in any strong solvent Like Gasoline , Paint thinner ????? Maybe ???? Basically anythinh that says do not use on Plastic should work? Along with say some strong Acid { Battery Kind -Not The Trippy Kind } Ideally If you wanna be 1000% sure of your destroyed data security You could try a multi-step approach ! Encrypt the data going on the disc !, then Nuke , Shred , or Dissolve the Disc away with solvent or Acid and then Burn the residue - Or Barring that load them all in the trunk of a junked Car at the Junkyard and send it to the Crusheror Car Shredder and from there hence to the blast furnace - Mu-Ha-Ha-Ha !!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, a nuke works nicely....and you have that lovely afterglow effect!!

Of course, there are the plastic explosives, of the C-4/semtex varieties that also tend to do a very good job.
