dvd doesnt run with softmod

all i did was install linux and i have that cool blue xbox screen but when i insert a dvd it doesnt play, ive turned on autoplay by the way. i do not have xbmc.

 

Wait do you have a chip in their already?

 

i didn't install a internal chip if that's what you mean, i didn't backup my eeprom like i should've. but eveyrthing should run okay if i can just get my xbmc on there, right?

Ok but you didnt metion how, or what dashboard you installed or anything of that nature. And another thing, what kind of dvd are you talking about? Movie or game?
