Recently I was backing up a disc, and noticed DvdFab was going really slow (like 3hrs). Checked drive wasn't in PIO mode, everything seemed to be fine, DMA enabled etc. So I tried to open disc in WMP, and got a message saying 'To play this disc your drive needs to be set to region 1. Do you want to change?' So I clicked 'yes' & it was then able to play in WMP, and also rip at normal speed in DvdFab. This was fine & dandy, until I went to do it (for maybe the 3rd time) and I got a message "This will be your last region change - even if you re-install your OS you will not be able to change again" So I clicked 'yes' anyway, as I needed it to get back to Region 4 as I am in NZ. Is this a usual feature of DVD drives? I hadn't come across it before. I have a Toshiba Notebook, with a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-841S drive. No way anyone knows of to disable the region settings or anything? (There was no option for region '0' - just geographical locations. Cheers
Hi ;-) Unfortunately your drive doesn't have rpc1 f/w. (RegionFree) So s/w like AnyDVD is probably the only option.
