    Hi

I have an NEC DVD+RW ND 1100A Drive and I have only just began to burn to blank media. I have noticed though, that after i have burnt to a disc that the disc is all scratched up. I checked the disc before putting it in and it was fine, I took it out and it was scratched. It also does this to normal dvds if i play them.
I have also been having problems with writing to disc, and i have the suspicion that my drive is kind of messed up. Any help would be appreciated, even if it is to confirm that my drive is ready for the trash :)

A drive scratching discs is not good.Something out of balance!

Does it make any noise when it burns?

What is the brand name and speed rate of your blank media?

Sometimes the thickness of the disc can vary. It's a long shot, but maybe pick up a small 3/5 pack of maxell +4x or +8x.

You'll probably have to replace it. Newegg.com have some great prices on the nec 3520/3540. They also had the benq 1620 on sale, but haven't gotten any in recently. Both nec and benq should be under $50 including fed ex. Very good burners for the money!
