Hi, I installed windows XP and for the first time I went to backup a file, only to find out my Drive now doesn't recognize blank DVD's. These Discs I'm using (SONY) worked on the same machine when it had Vista on it. Now I insert the CD's and instead of giving me the option to burn, or like before where I would click explore only to find it empty, now instead my PC just keeps searching for over 5 minutes in vain, only than it tells me to "insert a CD". Keep in mind this DVD drive worked before, with the same DVD's. Also when I went to the device manager it said that my drivers were up to date. The drive in question is a TSST corp CDDVD TS-H653N SCSI CdromW. Someone please help this is extremely frustrating ever since I installed W7 it's been nothing but trouble. I'm using Nero to burn.

Sorry the first sentence I meant to say I installed windows 7 not XP. I went from Vista to W7. Also it can read DVD's and CD's it just won't recognize blanks.

try updating your firmware or maybe different type of discs.
