Anyone who can help me please respond to this. I have seen this problem a few other places but no one knows how to fix it. I am a computer technician and this is the first problem I have had that I can not fix. Everything was working fine then, all of a sudden I opened my computer and my dvd drive and dvd burner were not there. Only my floppy and hard drive. My device manager said the drivers were installed but the devices could not be found. Also I have to image drives, one from Daemon Tools and one from alcohol that say the same thing. All are Code 41. Have replaced IDE cable, reconnected everything and nothing. The last thing I remember doing before I noticed the problem was installing microsoft antispyware and a windowsxp product key viewer problem that gave me an error message. If you know how to fix this please let me know.

Thank you for the info. I'm going to try it in the morning. Just out of curiosity however, will that work even though I do not have easy cd creator on my computer. I also remember now that I add a registry file to increase my computer's performance. Anyway to check to see if the file caused the error.

thank you for the info. It worked and gave me back my drives. Just out of curiousity, what did deleting the upper and lower values actually do? Once, again thanks for the help.
