I have a NEC 1100A, 3540A, and a HL-DS-GCA-4080N (per Gateway's web site). On all three units, one DVD causes them to freeze and not read the disc. I dropped another DVD into each, and they all respond. Even Windows file manager won't show anything.
    Suggestions?

Well....Apparently the first DVD is faulty.
Are you swapping these drives out or are they installed?
    Are these blank DVDs or...?
What brand and type are the DVDs?

The disk is prerecorded. The drives are on three separate computers. Even the old paper clip in the emergency eject hole doesn't work. I'm thinking you're right about the faulty disc. I cleaned with eye glass cleaner, which usually fixes minor problems, but the disc still wouldn't show or play. The NEC 3540 would spin up for a second or two and then nothing.
