I am running a Mercury DVD drive on my Win 98 PC. I have been able to watch DVDs fine for mounths...now, however I cant. After ten minutes every DVD i have freezes. I have tryed a veriaty of Player progs but the samething keeps happening, same with reboot. THough the picture freezes the sound continues, It works fine and i can skip chapters, ect but the picture remains frozen. Note: I downloaded a package of Codecs recently, nothing else could have afected it. Is it the Codecs, i tryed an uninstall but then none of my player progs worked! Anybody got any ideas???? try downloading directx media, directshow, and all the directx stuff from MS. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.asp hope this helps...
The same thing happened to me. By any chance is your dvd drive a samsung. If it is and you have warranty on it, get it replaced quick cause mine had the same problem for ages before it finally kicked in.
