I used to be able to backup my dvd's on a normal dvd-r disc. My hardware is atapi dvd dual 8x4x12. But about a week ago every time i try to copy something it says please insert correct media (dvd-rw or dvd+rw). In Nero info tool its supported write features are dvd-r dvd+r dvd+rw and dvd-rw but when i try to copy something it will not accept my normal dvd-r discs!! How can i change this back so i am able to use dvd-r because the other discs are expensive. PLEASE HELP!! All it says in the log file is: 1502-4320-1249-0782-2967-6975 Windows 2000 5.0 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.60 (1021), size=45056 bytes, created 10/09/1999 12:06:00 ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.59, size=160016 bytes, created 29/01/2003 21:37:36 Nero Version: 5.5.10.45 (Nero Express) Recorder: <ATAPI DVD DUAL 8X4X12> Version: ATC1 - HA 1 TA 0 - 5.5.10.45 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 8192kB Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI Connected to MMC as unknown drive with class-nr : 1 CD-ROM: <PIONEER DVD-ROM DVD-104>Version: 1.18 - HA 1 TA 1 - 5.5.10.45 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : ST320413A atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : ATAPI DVD DUAL 8X4X12 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : PIONEER DVD-ROM DVD-104 atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: CmdQueuing : 1 CmdNotification: 2 WriteBufferSize: 40894464 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 EraseSpeed : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 255MB (261616kB) Free physical memory: 10MB (10544kB) Memory in use : 95 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Static Write Speed Table: 0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Enabled (1) Wizard: On 8.9.2004 UDF/ISO compilation 19:04:58 #1 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1655 DVD-Video files reallocation started 19:04:58 #2 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1655 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 19:04:58 #3 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 7589 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet : TRUE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : FALSE Allow more than 255 characters in path : FALSE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 19:04:58 #4 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1655 DVD-Video files sorted 19:04:58 #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 115 Reader running 19:04:58 #6 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 125 Writer ATAPI DVD DUAL 8X4X12 running 19:04:58 #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 4571 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 19:04:58 #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 4571 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 19:04:58 #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3749 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 19:04:58 #10 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 672 Setup items (original item values) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (CTransferItem) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original CD pos #0 + 2286272 (2286272) = #2286272/508:3.47 relocatable, CD pos for caching/writing not required/required, no patch infos -------------------------------------------------------------- 19:04:59 #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 225 Last possible write address on media: 2297887 (510:38.37) Last address to be written: 2286271 (508:03.46) 19:04:59 #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 230 Write in overburning mode: FALSE 19:04:59 #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 1700 Recorder: ATAPI DVD DUAL 8X4X12, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: - Disc Application Code: 0, Disc Physical Code: 0 19:04:59 #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 824 Prepare recorder ATAPI DVD DUAL 8X4X12 for write in cue-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: TOCTYPE: 0x0 Session Closed, CD fixated Tracks 1 to 1: TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048/0x0, ISRC "", FilePos 0 307200 387624960 19:04:59 #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 672 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (CTransferItem) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original CD pos #0 + 2286272 (2286272) = #2286272/508:3.47 relocatable, CD pos for caching/writing not required/required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2286272 blocks [ATAPI DVD DUAL 8X4X12 ] -------------------------------------------------------------- 19:04:59 #16 Phase 24 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1655 Caching of files started 19:05:00 #17 Phase 25 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1655 Caching of files completed 19:05:00 #18 Phase 36 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1655 Burn process started at 1.5x (2,070 KB/s) 19:05:00 #19 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1978 Verifying CD position of item 0 (relocatable, CD pos, no patch infos, orig at #0): write at #0 19:05:00 #20 Text 0 File DVDR.cpp, Line 1495 Recording mode: Sequential Recording Mode 19:05:00 #21 Text 0 File Mmc.cpp, Line 18670 Set BUFE: Seamless Link -> ON 19:05:00 #22 Text 0 File DVDR.cpp, Line 1609 Start write address at LBA 0 DVD high compatibility mode: Yes 19:05:00 #23 Text 0 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 7931 ---- DVD Structure: Physical Format Information (00h) ---- Layer: 0, Address: 0 (0 h), AGID: 0; 1st thing to try is go into your device manager and remove your burner drive from the list. Then reboot and let Windows reinstall the drive properly. This corrects problems in about 75% of the time. Jerry
