Sup guys. I have been trying to test some media a relative bought using dvd identifier. It completes the task without errors, but there is a weird *WARNING* ,all in red, toward the end of the log. I was hoping someone could explaing what this means: [08:31:07] DVD Identifier V4.3.0 [08:31:07] Initializing Drive Interface [Auto-Select ASPI/SPTI] [08:31:07] SPTI Drive Interface Successfully Initialized [08:31:08] 1 Supported Drive Found (Out Of 2 Available Drives) [08:31:08] Manufacturer Database [18-FEB-06@660$88] Loaded From File : (@660$88) Entries Found [08:31:08] Internet Version Check Postponed Since Last Check Happened Less Than 1 Hour Ago [08:31:10] DVD-R/-RW Medium Detected. Starting Identification... [08:31:10] ** Initiating LPP Retrieval [08:31:12] WARNING : DVD-R Dual Layer Detection Is Not Supported By This Drive (No CDZ Read) [08:31:12] LPP Read Completed Without Errors [08:31:12] Disc Identification Completed Successfully PS I have a dual layer LG burner GSA-4120B with the latest firmware (unless something newer has come out in the last 30days). Thanks.
From all I can tell is that DVD Identifier cant read if the disks are dual layer are not. Shouldnt be a problem though
This drive only supports DVD+R DL discs, not the -R flavored ones, that is why you are recieving an error. http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-LG_DVD_R_RW_RAM_12x_Int_IDE_OEM
Supported Media Writing Standards CD-R • CD-RW • DVD-R • DVD+R • DVD+RW • DVD-RAM • DVD+R DL (Double Layer) • DVD-RW that really sucks. i guess when double layer dvds are in my price range that will be something i will have to remedy. thanks.
kk. does anyone know if dvd identifier is really that dependable at detecting supported formats? I went and got a new dl-dvd burner cause my old one didn't support dvd-r dl discs. I bought a lg GSA-H10N which I was lead to believe burned dvd-r dl discs. When I run dvd identifier I get the same error I got with my old burner: [10:35:42] DVD Identifier V4.3.0 [10:35:42] Initializing Drive Interface [Auto-Select ASPI/SPTI] [10:35:42] SPTI Drive Interface Successfully Initialized [10:35:42] 1 Supported Drive Found (Out Of 2 Available Drives) [10:35:42] Manufacturer Database [01-MAY-06@680$88] Loaded From File : (@680$88) Entries Found [10:35:42] Internet Version Check Postponed Since Last Check Happened Less Than 1 Hour Ago [10:35:43] DVD-R/-RW Medium Detected. Starting Identification... [10:35:43] ** Initiating LPP Retrieval [10:35:45] WARNING : DVD-R Dual Layer Detection Is Not Supported By This Drive (No CDZ Read) [10:35:45] LPP Read Completed Without Errors [10:35:45] Disc Identification Completed Successfully The odd thing is that when I look up my new burner on the net this is what I find: In addition to the 12x DVD-RAM write speed, this unit features write speeds of 16x for both DVD+R and DVD-R, write speeds of DVD+RW to 8x, DVD-RW to 6x, DVD+R DL at 10x and DVD-R DL at 8x. Any feedback? I was about to contact my local retailer and tear a strip outta them, but I wanted to do some investigating first. thanks.
Looks like it will only actually accept 6X-R DL media... http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDnameid=1560&Search=Search&list= Whereas your old burner had no -R DL support. http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters...om=&bdrom=&orderby=Name&hits=25&Search=Search Is your firmware up to date for the new drive?
thanks for the quick responce. I updated the firmware to latest jj11, but still same result. I've phoned my local retailer and they assure me it will burn dvd-r dl, so i guess i'm off to buy a 5 pack this afternoon. I would have thought dvd identifier would have said supports 6x dvd-r dl, and not DVD-R Dual Layer Detection Is Not Supported By This Drive but we'll see. thanks again.
my bad. When i looked under the "drive capabilities on this disc" tab it said the following: ** INFO : Drive = HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H10N - [FW JJ11] - [ATAPI] ** INFO : Write Capabilities = DVD+R DVD+R-DL DVD+RW ** INFO : Write Capabilities = DVD-R DVD-R-DL DVD-RW DVD-RAM
