I convert avi file to dvd format and then burn with Nero 6.

Although I have done this many times with not problem, now when I do this the movies are very jerky. Does anyone have any clues why this is happening and how to stop it?

    My system is:

    AMD Athlon 64 processor
    3000+
    2.01 GHz
    1.00 GB of Ram.

    Using Windows XP Pro

Media is my guess. Have you changed media?

Sorry to sound silly, but I am not sure what you mean by "media".

I am not very computor literate.

    Cheers

By media he means the brand of DVDs you use. That usually accountable for a bad burn. That and the speed that you burnt at. For media I, as well as nearly everyone else here, reccommend Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Sony and Fuji, when made in japan, are actually Taiyo Yuden. So you can buy Sony and Fuji if they are made in japan. There are usually sales for SOny,fuji and verbatim at best buy. Here is a link to one at Circuit City:

the made in taiwan ones (crap) and they made in japan ones are usually mixed so you have to read they label.

I am still using the same dvd-r as before, but I have changed my graphic card and now have a Nvidia Gforce 6600.

Well I don't really know what media you were using before. But honestly, the brands I posted above are the only ones I'd let anywhere near my burner. And what speed are you burning at?

@flygirl, so we can have a better look at things could you please post a Nero log of your last burn.
Go to Program Files>>>Ahead>>>Nero and you should find it.

    Hello Gwendolin

I have looked everywhere for a log file, even done a search and cannot find it.

Is this the same thing as a history file, which I have found but it is large?

Could I send it to you as an attachment?

You can post it as follows.
    Highlight history file
    go control c (copy)
    then control v (paste)in reply
Yes it is long but contains a lot of info we need to see where the burn is going wrong.

My goodness, the amount one can learn by digging a bit deeper into this forum.

I followed the guide in "Nero guide by alkohol" and wow what a difference. My burning now is wonderful.

I would like to thank Gwendolin, GlueEater and Whompus for your assistance.
