Have a look at the '25 Wasted Discs' post to see if it's the same problem.

did that, read every post i possibly could, after more research think it may be dust in the stand alone dvd player, we are restricted in my area to the brand of blank media we can purchase at present, relatively new concept for us, will keep trying though, others are now going fine, thanks for suggestion

Well, check the compatability of your stand alone here: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers.php

But trying a different type of media would be one of the first things I'd try. If there's only one type where you are you might have to do some online shopping.

If you're in the UK , then try this online store for blank discs
    http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/

And I'd suggest using discs that have the Ritek Dye (dark purple bottom)

$5 is about 5 times too much to pay for 1 disc.

When you say "Oz," do you mean Australia?

Yes , that is a reference for Australia : )

Ok mummybear , i was thinking you were maybe stateside (US)
I have actually heard from other aussie users stating that things arent so good in the way of blank media , in fact the person from New Zealand I spoke to on here had hardly any choice at all [d'oh]

Sorry to hear that your country hasnt got its act together yet

guys you are great, lots of thoughts, but as you say australia is a little behind the times as yet, was thinking of e-bay to check out but US dollar is about $1.75 here, could still work out cheaper though than paying exhorbitant rates here, will check around more, as you say dvd+r are a little more common here at present, but i always check, am normally a good girl :)
