Hi I have a question on DVD minutes or play time.

I bought some ripped DVDs on Ebay of the series LOST because here in the UK they haven't even finished series 1 yet!

Anyway the entire series is on 3 DVDs only. On the first DVD there are 10 episodes, roughly 400 minutes and the quality is GOOD.

How is it possible to get so much play time on a single DVD?

I didn't think it was possible to get DVDs with more than 240min play time? Is this wrong?

Is there anyway I can get more play time on to a 240min DVD?

    Lower the bitrate.
Done right, you can fit up to about 16 hours per disk (single layer), at VHS quality.
Yes and no. DVD's hold data. If you compress the data, you fit more on the disk. Don't rate a disk by it's minutes.
