Whether I compress or not, the backup picture quality is not as good as my cable tv picture. On cable, many times the movies are almost 3d. I have a high end 36" Sony crt. My dvd does not have progressive scan enabled because my tv is not ps compatable. My dvd player is a Panasonic DVD-S27 and I have changed the video setting without much improvement. My dvd uses component video cables.

My Shrink settings are for sharp and deep analysis. I use Nero to burn. I use Ridata 4.7 dvd-r.

Does RCN cable tv (I also had Comcast with the same high quality picture) enhance the picture somehow? Is the Panasonic dvd player inferior?

    I don't unnerstand?

    Thanks,
    Tony

I forgot to add that the original and backup picture quality is equal, but still inferior to digital cable tv, which has a composite video cable to the tv.
