Playing back DVD movie Disks(Verbatim+R) burned on another computer using NERO, ripped using DVDShrink. Playbacks sometimes stop intermittently (just for an instant) and restart by themselves, some movies play fine for a half hour or more then then the intermittent thing starts and eventually the movie stops completely, but will restart for an instant if I shake the computer. Lastly, if I remove the Disk from the drive and let it cool down for 10 minutes it plays without a problem. My computer is a Toshiba Satellite A45-S150. Seem to have the same problem on a VIA Mini-ITX system I built using a slimline DVD Drive. Are these drives prone to overheating? The Disk and drive seem to be excessively hot. How hot is too hot?

Have you stuck one of them pretty labels on the discs to make it look like a real one? They look nice but can cause chaos on a backup dvd. Can throw the disc out of balance and cause it to overheat.

I too have had a simular problem.
I copied the movie onto a DVD-R using DVD shrink and nero. while watching the movie in a regular DVD player the picture slows down and then stops as though it was paused I then use fast forward and jump that little section and things play fine.
I have not put a lable on the DVD.
does anybodey have any idea why this might occur?

Seems really strange, now that I'm aware of the problem, it seems to be showing up on all my dvd players and computers as well. I'm not up on exactly how DVD disk technology works, but if you record data on a disk, then verify the data through NERO, the data should be there unless the media is damaged, then the data is not retrievable? This problem is variable, sometimes the data is there, sometimes it's not. The problem always shows up toward the end of the recording. Is there something about the end of recording that causes this?
