I am wondering if any of you experienced this and if there's any solution. I try to play a movie for say, 10 seconds in either my dvd-rom or dvdrw drive and then remove that dvd and insert another movie, but when I play the newly inserted movie, it plays the first 10 seconds or so of the previous movie that was just in the drive, then cuts to the new inserted dvd movie. Im not sure if this is just a matter of configuring my dvd player software. I am using PowerDVD 6 deluxe. I've also tried powerdvd 5 and 4 and both previous versions did the same thing on both my dvd drives.
Like set top players, software dvd players act in much the same way when you hit the stop button. The first stop places a bookmark in your player so as not to lose your place in the movie. I'd assume that's what you are experiencing- the bookmark feature resuming playback from buffer.
Thanks for the response. If thats the case, is there any way to disable this feature? Also, when the prompt to either play the movie from where I stopped or play it from the beginning pops up, I chose to play it from the beginning and checked don't ask again. However, I got that prompt even though I already inserted a new dvd movie. The drive was supposed to recognize that a new dvd was inserted and not prompt me to play it from where I stopped because it is a different disc. I guess it is software related so I might just try to reinstall my OS. Note: When I insert a DVD movie in my drive and for example the size is 4.2 Gig as I point on my DVD Drive icon. And remove this DVD disc and insert a different DVD with say 4.6 Gig, But when I point on the Drive Icon it still says 4.2Gig...refreshed, same... Closed My Computer and reopened My Computer, same. I don't know what's happening. Same on both DVDRom and DVDRW. with updated firmware. XP SP2.
