Hi, I've recently done a clean install of all software on my machine, reformated the drive and reloaded all software. Problem is now I can't play DVD's with PowerDVD 4 (also tried 6) and other DVD players (NeroVision etc). I can play backed up copies of DVD's but the original commercial disks will not work. I'm using XP with a NEC older DVD burner (1x) but it worked fine before. All the drivers on my machine have been updated except I could not upgrade the firmware on the DVD burner. I've reinstalled DirectX from Microsoft site as well. Any help would be appreciated as Cyberlink support has not been able to solve this problem.
try downloadin dvd 43 works great DVD43 is a small tool that integrates into Windows and overrides copy-protection mechanisms found on DVD-Video discs (namely, CSS) and DVD region limitations (in case you have RPC-2 DVD drive). Integrates nicely with CloneDVD, DVD2One, WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd43.cf your backup copys will play but the original still have copy protection
ozzymary, thank you - that worked. Also solved a problem I was having using DVD Shrink. Thanks for your help.
