I looked for this question.. i really did but suprisingly couldnt find it. i sucessfully burned a backup, with titanium, of city of lost children on a dvd rw disk on my NEC DVD RW ND 3500AG but went to play it and it didnt play it said check disk on the tv screen and error on the player. i have been so frustrated with this "easy" process. thanks (followed the guide exactly)
I'm pretty sure MOST dvd players will not play RW media. You need to burn to a -R. That should do the trick.
I just got external Lacie D2, and I have tested it with DVD-RWs. They play fine in my DVD-player (it´s older model btw, but even back then I checked, that it supported CD/DVD-/+R/RW), which is very good thing. Now I can test different stuff, and not worry so much about coasters. I kinda disagree with Mediaguru ( ) about DVD- players (stand-alone). At least in the Europe, if you look at the specs, most newer DVD-players (even the cheaper ones) support DVD-/+R & RW (same with CDs). Most also support digital pictures. So check the manual of you DVD-player, and see what formats it supports. It may be, that your DVD- player doesn´t support DVD-RW (if that´s the case, you may want to upgrade your DVD-player). Also, use "good" DVD-R/RW media.
Newer players may play RW's but I know all of mine won't. Playability issues are 75% media and 25% burned wrong.
thanks chums.. ill try that media.. then if it still wont work.. i shall call apon your minds once again... I dont think my DVD player plays that media, I cant find the manual anymore but it says it may not be compatible with some types of media. so.. yea... thanks again
i have not gotten new media but i tried to play on my laptop and it didnt play. any suggestions to know what i might have done wrong. thnks
sarahvita, c´mon: "You can use DVD Player to play it directly from your hard drive by going to the 'File' menu, selecting 'Open VIDEO_TS Folder', navigating to the VIDEO_TS folder (the VIDEO_TS folder itself, not the contents or the dvd folder) MTR saved to your HD, and hit the 'choose' button. Then, you can hit 'play' and the DVD will play from your HD. Alternatively, there is a new program called Matinee which can easily play back VIDEO_TS folders from your hard drive for you."
yea.. sorry I thought you ment in the burner for some reason.. i dont know why.. I was in the external burner zone, thats all i was thinking about...or something.. let me try to play it from the file..
no the video_ts folder does not play in the DVD player. I says the media type has encountered an error or something like that. I tried to just open the file and it plays the directors comments behind the movie selection. nothing else not even a menu.. is thie a trick to getting a menu? or how about i just back up and try to get the movie on there... hmmm
does that mean it was a problem with the burn? i wondered if that would happen because the first time i tried it wouldnt burn . Roxio wouldnt recognize the media. should i do it all over again or can you tell what went wrong from what happened?
