dvd player realy realy slow Help!!!!!

    i have a compaq that first had win 98 but not Xp and now the dvd player does not work. and when it go to use Smart Ripper the dvd speed is around .3 Can any1 hellp???

    Is the speed of the drive just really slow, or is the drive not recognized at all?

    when ripping it runs around .2-.3

    so i guess it is reading just realy slow.

    the not in the first part should be a now i now upgraded it to xp which is when it stopped reading the dvds. but it still "ripps" (if that is correct)
    just realy slow.
