I'm looking to buy a new DVD player and need a few recommendations. The top requirement is to be able to play a wide variety of discs. I burn all sorts of discs and so the player needs to be top notch when it comes to handling burned discs. Also the player needs to be able to handle several save points (by several I mean atleast three different discs). Ideally it also could be hacked to handle PAL discs and a USB port to play AVI video files. The last two requirements arent necessary but would be nice to have. Thanks.

Consider the Oppo 980H. It will play multiple video and audio formats, can be made region free with a simple hack using a code on the remote, and has a USB port in the front. It's a bit pricey ($169) but is highly regarded by audio/videophiles. It's supposed to be one of the best DVD upconverters available. I've owned one for a year and have not had any problems with it. Customer support is great. I had a question one time and sent an email, receiving a reply within hours. Website is oppodigital.com.

I don't really need an upconverting player as most of my DVD's are burned discs (where they have already been reduced in quality). You know of anything a bit cheaper? Something under $100 would be great. I dont't need any special features besides the ones I mentioned above.
