dvd player says no disc

    hi all,

    I have a pioneer dvd player that was working fine until this week. It says no disc is inserted when I try play a regular movie but plays my own home movies fine. As a test I copied one of the movies from my collection and it worked. And all play fine on the dvd recorder and pc.

    help please.

    Are you talking about a stand alone desktop player or a player in a PC. I would check that none of the setup settings got changed like the region codes as an example. Copied dvd's are region free and will play on most players. Store bought dvd's are coded and if they don't match won't play. But in that case you should get some sort of error message that the region code is wrong. Just a guess.
