Hi, I have two DVD players in my house. Both are Apex. One is an ad-1200 I believe and the other an ad-2500. WIth a few widescreen dvd's I have, the ad-1200 will play them fine in widescreen, bu the ad-2500 will not play them in widescreen, but will instead shrink them to fit the entire tv. I can tell because the people in the movie are stretched vertically. I'm not sure why it does this, as the ad-2500 is a better player. I've tried every option, including widescreen mode on the dvd palyer, ntsc to pal, and even the AFF button on the remote, whatever that is. Please help, thanks

to my understanding how DVDs are authored the DVD itself needs to be formated into wide-screen to have that option on your player.

yes but it will play widescreen on one dvd player but the other shrinks it to full screen by crunnching the widescreen picture together, making everythinn look stetched vertically

Check to see if your tv player menu options have some kind of setting that forces it into 4-3 mode or pan and scan mode.

are both DVD players being played on the same tv monitor?
If not and your using two different monitors then the problem would be the tv monitor. I've had family members with the same situation.

yeah they are both diff tvs, the one that works is on a newer tv, but I wouldnt think the TV would matter. The dvd player that doesnt work is newer but on an older tv, and the one that works is an older dvd player on a newer tv. Maybe tv recognizes the signal its sending i dunno.

s37d: Plug that newer dvd into the other tv. If it works on the other tv, then you know for sure it's the tv and not the dvd player ;).
