the main reason for pixelation, freezing, clipping, and can't play in player is the media that you used. Use MIJs (made in Japan) disks. Taiyo Yuden is the best...... or just buy Verbatim which is the exception to the MIJ rule! But don't buy the made in India Verbatims! Check label on box or spindle! You won't get any pixelations, freezing, skipping clipping or any of that crappy media syndrome! here is a media guide for you..... it's not the greatest but it's seems to be one of the best guides out there: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
I just don't agree with their standings on TDK media! I think it's second rate to third rate at best! but I agree with all other FIRST CLASS RATINGS. Using the best will actually save you money.... because as you can see you have to burn all over again and waisted your money on crappy media that won't last. here are other reasons why some burns won't play in DVD players:

    1. burning speeds: burn at 4x so there will be less writing errors (rule of thumb is to burn at half the rated speed of the disk--8X disk burn at 4x).
    2. read manual for your stand alone player and use the disks that will play in your player. If your player is less than 2 yrs old then it should play the + or - R disks! I said SHOULD that's why you read the manual.
    3. try booktyping your drive to DVd-ROM so it will make your +R disks more compatible to players. Read this:
    http://k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php
    4. make sure that there are no finger prints or scratches on your disk that make it hard for the player to read the disk!
    5. use good quality media (rule of thumb....buy the ones that are Made in Japan.) Verbatim is a top notch disk and is the only exception to this rule....some Verbatims are made in Taiwan and they are top notch!
    6. and don't burn too close to the outer edge of the disk ..... which will make the disk unreadable! but using good media you will be able to burn close to the edge better than lesser quality media. Just in case I only burn no closer than 4400MB, so if you can set your programs to that, all the better!

follow these little tips of the trade and you'll have better success! good luck.

I've also found this to happen. If your AVI files were ripped from PAL source, the DVD player can't comprehend the frame rate, even if you encoded to DVD using NTSC. A lot of progs don't utilize DGPulldown which convert AVI to compliant 29.97fps. I can almost guarantee Nero and WinAVI aren't doing that for you. Get the trial of ConvertXtoDVD and encode the file to DVD. It will be watermarked, but if it's not displaying the symptoms your previous method did, then your problem was the source/frame rate. Try it out and get back with me. Hope thi helps!

IHoe, what program do you use to convert? Also, what site do you order your TY's from? Do you not burn half the speed of your burner rather that the disk itself?

@mysabre..... I use ConvertXToDVD and also I use Nero to convert AVIs. I buy my Taiyo Yuden disks from Supermediastore.com, Rima.com, Meritline.com, and or Newegg.com....... take your pick. With Taiyo Yuden disks you can burn half the rated speed of the disk all the way up to it's rated speed. They are that good! But, my burners favor the 8x disks and I burn at 8x! Perfect all the time..... 99.9% successful rate!

I have been using DVD Flick and have been pleased with it up till recently. For some reason, the disks have started skipping. I just started using a new pk of Sony DVD-R's. Thought maybe it is the disks, even though that's what I use all the time. So, I started using Nero and the same thing - skipping. I have done a lot of research and Taiyo Yuden are definitely rated high. I phoned a few stores and no one has heard of them. I guess I have to order online. What TY disks do you use?

I strictly use 8x, DVD+R, White hub printables (I print directly on the disk!). A watermarks is like a logo put on the final product, like this:

But, a watermark doesn't affect the movie itself, does it? It's just that you can see it on the disk.

A watermark is an image/text that continuously shows throughout the movie. It's embedded in the video if that helps. It doesn't affect the quality of the movie, just the visibility where the image/text is embedded. Hope that explains it a little better.

Little hint - check out the forum rules. No piracy allowed is one of them. I won't encourage others either to illegally obtain software - buy it instead.

    edit: typos :)

Thank you everyone for your help. I don't understand why anyone would want a watermark running through their movie. But, I guess it's a trial version and then, if you like it, you can buy the full version.

Help. Im kinda going through the same problem with my dvd playing on the computer after ive burned it but when I put it into the dvd player it doesnt play. I've tried my portable dvd player and my xbox360 and no response from either.
Ive been converting from avi to dvd using WinAvi dvd converter and then I've tried a couple different programs to burn them. I think it might have something to do with my fps but Im too new to really know why and how to fix it. help please
