hi,could anyone help,i am trying using nero 7 to copy and burn onto a dvd-r,unfinalised, another recording,ie add to material already recorded, but it keeps saying disc not empty.is it possible to do this with nero or any other software.
AFAIK you have to create and edit a new master. It sounds like you are trying to create a "multisession video DVD", which I don't believe is possible.
Is this something you're trying to add to regularly, like a tv series you're recording and want to get it all onto one disc? Where did you record it in the first place? Are you in the US or Uk? I'm in the Uk and often record things from Sky/Freeview to my Sky/Freeview hard drive recorder. I can then transfer them to my DVD recorder hard drive. If I really want to, I can take the disc to my PC and copy it to my PC hard drive and do whatever I want with it there really, before burning the final file to a DVD disc that will play in any UK/US dvd player. So, if you can tell me where you are and more specifically, what you're trying to do from start to finish, I MIGHT be able to help! If it's episodic 1 hr tv programs you're trying to record.........and then add the next episode to later...then I can probably help. Let me know if that's about right and I can help you maybe. Cheers....Celine
hi,this is what i am trying to do,i have recorded a tv programme onto a dvd-r,unfinalised,leaving enough space on the disc to copy and burn from another dvd-rw,with another programme that has been recorded,in other words i am trying to fill my dvd-r discs up,instead of having one item on one disc and another item on another disc. every time i try it with nero it says disc not empty,so i cant add any more material on it.i think the answer is to do with multisession recordings.
I am not aware of any way that you can do what you are trying to do and keep them in a simple DVD format. Unlike data files, DVDs have a specified file format and you cannot simply "add" to a DVD and retain the format. Also, multisession DVDs are not supported by many devices so even if you were to create a multisession DVD with several stand alone video files, there is no guarantee that your DVD player could read it properly. Someone may chime in and contradict me, but AFAIK, you cannot do this incrementally.
