I don't think so you can, but if you have dvdxcopy platinum, when you back up a dvd, you have the choice of forcing a dvd+r to be read as a dvd-r in a dvd player. Unfortunatly, I haven't been able to select that option, b/c for some reason it is grayed out.
Hi I am trying, not very sucessfully to burn a dvd from a backup copy on my hard drive. I know the movie is there but cant get my dvd writer to recognise that there is a disk in it. I have an NEC DVD+RW 1100A and have just realised that the disks I am trying to copy onto are DVD - R Is this the problem? thanks
I'll have to check my notes at home after work, but I think the Nec 1100a has a firmware hack that converts it to a 1300 dual format burner. You might want to check this site. http://www.rpc1.com. Once on that site just do a search for your drive. Jerry
Hi I ran a check for it, but I am afraid I have absolutely no idea what to do with the info I found. Dont like the dire warnings of it destroying my drive.
Those warnings will scare you. I have a Memorex Dual X1 burner which was made by Pioneer. The firmware to unlock the rip speed was only for Pioneer drives so I had to flash my firmware twice. Once to change the name to read Pioneer 106D instead of Memorex, then another flash to unlock the speed and make it region free. I was sure I was going to end up buying another drive but it all worked out great. Probably 75% of the time it works out Ok, then somwtimes it kills a drive if not done properly. Jerry
