I have a new problem that has just occured. First I have been using Clone DVD2 and Any DVD for about a year to backup my dvd's. I have not had any problems in the past but now I am currently having many problems even with movies that I have backed up previously.

I have an Hp computer XP media edition with all the upgrades installed. The Dvd drive is an HP dvd writer 740b......

My issue started recently after burning a movie backup I try to play it back and it freezes up and skips periodicly. Most commonly it will occur around the chapter 3 and 4 jump. I have never had this problem before and now I am. I have been told it might be the movie and others have said it might be the software and some say it is the dvd burner going bad.

    Please help

    Guyzilla

P.S. By the way the movie it has recently happened on is Christmas Vacation (I have already made one backup before and it worked fine but recently my backup got really scratched that I keep in my car to watch in there, so i made a new one and it has this new issue.)

Please let me know if there is any other information I might need to supply

The symptoms you describe are typical of cheap media...the media that you used in the past that is now giving you problems is degrading to the point of uplayability. The same can be said of the new issues you are facing with new burns. I highly recommend Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden for all of your DVD backups.

Ughh...that explains alot. As I suggested, try some Verbatims...they are on sale this week at Best Buy, 25 for $7. The dye over time will degrade with any discs, but the cheaper discs may degrade faster. There are several threads here at AD about media quality...take a look around for more of an explanation.
