dvd+r or dvd-r for viper gc

I just recently got the viper gc. I tried making a backup of one of my games, which I pulled off successfully. The only thing is that when I try to play it, it won't start. I flashed the viper with GCOS. I used a dvd+r. Could that cause the game not to work? Or maybe it's the way I burned it to the dvd. What am I doing wrong?
