HI i have a DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW burner on a laptop, i have checked neros info tool and it tells me I can burn to both. i can burn a DVD-R/RW disc back up fine, but if i use a DVD+R/RW disc i get the message graph building failed, when i try and play them(on the computer).but i can burn other data to the DVD+R/RW disc fine mp3 and downloaded stuff.I am using using DVD x copy platinum to back up movies. and nero to burn other stuff. Anybody got any idea? Thanks Lee.
Lee, It could be a few things but first, You need to go into msconfig and turn off Nero's InCD. If the problem persists, then you must remove InCD. This can sometimes be removed via Add or Remove Programs in control panel, but sometimes it converts to a TSR (Terminate and Stay Ready) and has to be removed from task manager. You'll find it under processes. There are known issues with Nero, but Nero truly isn't the trouble scourse. 321 Studio's products have issues with most of the kids in public school, they wish a private school setting. Pete
Hi do i remove nero altogether, I cant find incd running, the nero i am running is nero se. Thanks Lee.
Lee232, Perhaps I mis-understood your post. Here’s what I got - 1. You have a combination burner on a laptop. 2. Nero also tells you that both + and - media can be burned. 3. You have no trouble burning to an -RW disc. 4. You can burn some data to a +RW disc. (Now here's the part I was guessing at) - You say - Since you then mentioned that you were using DVD XCopy I understood that is where your problem was - DVD XCopy doesn't get along with a lot of programs. You don't have to totally remove Nero, just go to msconfig and uncheck anything that says Ahead or Nero. If I didn't understand your problem try to explain it to me again - "P"
yeah sorry my post isnt verry clear when ive read it again, but you got my meaning. If i burn a movie to a - meduim its fine if i burn to + then i get the message gragh building failed, but i can burn data to a + fine. Ill try removing the nero from the msconfig cheers. Thanks Lee
Right ive checked msconfig and there is nothing related to nero starting up, also nothing running under processes, anything else i can do. Thanks Lee
OK Lee, Let's see if I still have it - 1. You CAN burn a DVD backup to -R media and you have a good copy. 2. When you attempt to burn to a +R media that's when you get an error message. "Well, alrighty then !" That's telling us that the program itself is OK. It's also telling us that there is no conflict between programs. What is left is - 1. You need to go to your mfgs. Home Page and get your drivers updated and see about getting a firmware upgrade. You may have to flash your burner to bring it up to speed. 2. While you are there, check your drive’s spec. page to determine if you are using the proper recommended media for your drive. You may very well need to move to a more top-of-the-line "Name Brand" media to see if it helps cure this problem. Let’s try that and report back - Pete IF, on the other hand, your last post means that you haven’t tied out your DVD drive since making the msconfig adjustments, we need to give it a try to find out if we still have a problem - (In future posts if you could let me know where you stand, so I wouldn’t have to guess, that would be helpful) “P”
hi man, no the msconfig stuff didnt help . and i have checked for updates and there are none to be found as yet. is it possible that the DVD+ that i am using are no good. thanks Lee
Lee, As you can see in my signature, I have an NEC ND-1300A burner. It is listed as a dual format drive meaning it will burn both +R and -R media, like yours. I found out early that it burned +R media just fine but it didn't like -R at all, or so it seemed. In reality, it does burn -R media, but only the top-of-the-line discs with advanced AZO dye process. What is Advanced AZO ? It is a new and unique CD/DVD dye technology. Advanced AZO is used to produce a recording layer with an improved power margin and greater sensitivity that ensures stability at faster speeds. So even though it doesn’t burn the regular stuff they can still call it a dual format drive. Me ? Well, I still have the drive, I just burn +R media and that’s that. We were trying everything I had tried to see if we could get yours to work. What are your options ? 1. Me, I keep waiting for new flash updates, one (1) just came in last month doubling the mfgrs. I had before. I pray that soon they’ll include some regular media to the list. For you: Try other media, start going upward in quality and see if you can find something that will work. Keep checking for new flash updates like I do. 2. Stick your finger in your ear like I did and, suffer in silence using what will work and not using what won’t. Sorry my friend, I gave it my best shot :-( Anyway, let me Welcome you to the Neighborhood ) As a rule, we are more successful in our endeavor to help others - Have a good day, Lee, it’s been a pleasure, Pete
