I just purchased a DVD recorder/player that plays DVD-Rs but not DVD+Rs. I have some DVD+R that I watch. The DVD+R drive on my laptop can read and write both + and - formats but I was wondering if someone could tell me will that drive be able to read "+" but write it onto a "-" instead of back to a "+"? I am wondering because I want to be able to watch them using my newly purchased DVD recorder/player hooked up to my TV instead of being limited to watching them on my laptop. Thanks for your help

Just copy the DVD + film to your hard drive then insert a DVD - blank disk and copy it you did say your burner can copy and write to both formats the + and the – if so good to go

Killalot is correct. Another alternative is to record to DVD+R discs but change the bit-setting on your recording drive so that it records the DVD+R discs as "DVD-ROM." That will fool the DVD recorder/drive into playing the DVD+R discs.

I found that media quality is more important than bit setting, but since you already have the DVD+R you might as well have them read as DVD-ROM. In the future, you should strongly consider Taiyo Yuden DVD+R. The best ones are the 8x ones with the ID YUDEN000T02. For me, those worked on all 13 of my DVD players including the one that doesn't even play original DVDs any more!! The other discs I like a lot are the Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R. Those have the code TYG02 I believe. So far they are working flawless.

If you cannot get Taiyo Yuden, look for Verbatim media. Those are reliable as well.
