Im trying to burn some music files to Verbatim DVD-R disks. Every time i try with Nero 8 i get an error saying burn failed. It keeps saying Burner Dirty, but its only about 3/4 months old. I had the same problem with my last burner as well. Ive tried burning them at lower speeds but it wont work. Below is my log from Nero. I'd appreciate if anyone could help. moved to correct forum as not a dvd rom drive issue. edit out the rest of the serial # so nobody does an offensive post about it.
It looks like your burner does not read your discs properly, the firmware is not compatible with your media. You need a firmware uodate. Your drive is an OEM, DH-20A1P.The retail version, the "original" liteon drive is LH-20A1P. If you can't find firmware update from yor PC's retailer site, you can cross-flash to the retail version which has better firmware support. The warranty will be voided and there are risks involved with any cross flashing, but what use is a burner with crappy firmware anyway... My burner has been working for over 2 years with a cross flashed firmware.... Follow the prompts. You will get a few warnings but carry on. Job Done "
