I have a dvd recorder and used it to copy a tv program. The disc plays fine, but only on the recorder. Not only this but the disc shows up blank on the pc with dvd shrink, dvd decoder and nero. If anyone has a solution or explaination for this id be happy to hear it.

Previous advice is spot on... try finalising it.. If you don't have the machine any more some crafty tactics in a retailers will succeed. You can access the disk functions from the menu button on the remote.. or post the machine details and one of us will find instructions.

On the recorder there is no option to finalise the disc, is there another way to do this? I checked in nero and dvd decrypter and there is no option there either that I can find.

No.. it needs to be done with the recorder it was made in. They record in a format which very few pc dvd drives recognise (sequential). there will be a finalize disk option.. there has to be to close the disk.

make and model and we will hunt the manual for you ;)

I had the same problem with my 1st DVD Recorder! Basically it is one of the 1st ones one the market that do exactly what you have said! not being able to finalize discs! So go out and buy a new DVD Recorder that does finalize discs, and then it will work on all your players that support dvd discs. I am using "Highlander" I paid about $300, but i have seen it at cash for goods and ALDI stores! the best way to use one is to record using DVDRW supports both - & + discs, then burn it to a DVDR after editing everything on the disc. EASY!
