I am having trouble ejecting my dvd record to put a cd in. When I turn it on it says "Hello" and makes a short sound and will not open. It is like it is frozen. I have tried turning it off and on and unplugging and replugging it. It still is frozen. Also the clock has not changed when doing this.

Can anyone help me out on this?

    What model unit

My ilo 04 did this. Removing the cover and GENTLY slapping the top of the DVD drive would open it. You may try to remove the DVD cover and clean it. While sucessfull in repair and cleaning, In This case I had to replace the DVD Drive (not with an original that may be impossible and or be excessive in cost) A non original can be another set of problems.

    My post, this site,
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/384588
    May be of help
I have two RHD04 (with HDD)an R04 and a LiteOn 5045. While all but the 5045 have the orig drive, all have had a replacement drive, and worked fine to the 1693s afer that it would seem that there are some problems with some functions not wporking correctly.
The 04 has features that are not available in latter units
Should you decide to go further check the below sites. There is much info and knoweledge on this subject.

I tried cleaning out the drive with the ilo 04 and it still is not ejecting. I have also tried using the romote when ejecting and pushing the open and power buttons immediately after tapping it. It still does not work.

I plan on just replacing it with a new dvd recorder in our price range. We would like to have one that can also play dvds made from the computer. We are looking at the panasonic es 15 version or 20. Any thoughts on this?
