hello i was wondering if any one can help me. i`ve been writing to some dvd-r out of a pack of 25, i`ve used 10,(all ok) then all of a sudden i get this error message off the rest of the pack. (error -10 at sector 800-command;2a sense;04 asc;44 ascq;d9) if anyone can help would be much apreciative thanx in advance.
I think the error is the loaction of a particular pit or set of pits on the disc. Is there any noticeable discrepancies on the discs and is it happening with a lot of them? Chris
p.s is there a way to correct the disc with recording software if theres an error with the pits on the disc

No, there isnt a way to correct it. Try running the disc in Nero CDSpeed and selecting Extras and Surface Scan. It will tell you if the surface of the disc is at fault or not.
I think that is a buffer underun code with recnowmax.... Can be attributed to bad substrates on blank media......send them back for exchange.... How are you copying to them - ie from Hd or disc to disc?
cant send them back as ive used half of them,i`m copying from new hdd. got some coasters though i suppose. thnx for the help anyways much apreciated.
Actually you can return the unused media - by law.......consumer rights etc.... What are your specs for your pc? Are you multi tasking whilst burning - this can cause buffer underuns, just leave your pc to burn without using/opening other programs, inc screensaver......
xp1800 asus a7v333 512mb of ddr 160gig hdd windows xp pioneer 105 liteon 52x writer. not multi tasking. but i took one of the discs round a mates and it wrote perfect his copy box.
Well I wouldn't expect you to have buffer underuns with those specs. What r u using to burn, recnowmax - what version? Have you tried burning at a lower speed? I experienced similar with datawrites - but have now moved onto ritek g03 or g04, these work baaaaaaaaaarilliantly.....
record now max v4.50 prassi primodvd 2.0 and discjuggler and nero all with same result "initializing disc then it fails. looks like i`m going the ritek way myself.
j10, This does not look like a media problem, if they work Ok on your friends PC. A few things to try :- If your friend has a DVD burner, try swapping some of his media. Try re-installing you DVD burning software (not sure what you're using after all that big list you provided... Datawrite media is a good media. Best bet, check your software. HomerJ
