i have searched and have found many similiar topics, but i feel none of them were asking the question I have. I have two dvd drives. i thought they were all the same thing, but apparently not. In My Computer, one of them shows as DVD-R drive, while the other shows as DVD/CD-RW drive. I know they are both rewritable drives, but i can't rip a dvd nor burn one using the DVD/CD-RW drive. they both give me some kind of error or NERO just doesn't recognize it sometimes, and then i saw NERO saying the drive is DVD+RW, and the dvd disk is DVD-R. I hope i didn't confuse or loose anyone with this whole explanation. so my final question would be if it is at all possible to burn on DVD-R discs using a DVD+RW drive, and if so, could NERO be the problem. And i did see an ad for DVD+RW discs in some store, but they're like 3 times as expensive if not more.
Hi imperial, It would be really helpful if you would provide a brand and model number for your drives. DVD-R drive: Reads DVDs and writes to -R, R/W media only. DVD/CD-RW drive: Reads DVDs and CDs, writes to CDs only. In your first paragraph you say DVD-R: Then your final question: The bottom line is that if you have a DVD+RW drive, you can only burn +R, R/W media. If you have a DVD-RW drive then you can only burn -R, R/W media. Frank _ _ _X_X_X_X_X_[small]motorcycle racer computer newbie Sony VAIO Suzuki GSXR1000[/small]
