    Dear all,

Excuse me if this has been resolved somewhere else, for thus my search skill need to be improved.

I've been burning DVD+R and CD-R with my burner (Nero log below). But suddenly it refuses to burn CD-R or CD-R(W) anymore. I've tested different media with no avail (usually I'm using Verbatim). And the same batch of media burns OK with a different burner. Funnily I still can burn DVD+R media (also Verbatim) with no issue (confirmed binarily that the files in the DVD and my hard-drive is the same). Any pointers on how to solve this, save bringing the unit to their service centre?

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards,
    - Ivan Wirawan

    Hi Rotary,

Many thanks for the reply. The drive is not a virtual drive nor USB. It is actual drive in my laptop drive bay (is this the cause of the DMA setting not showing?). Anyway all the devices that are attached to the IDE buses have DMA enabled. The HDD has Ultra DMA Mode 5 and CD-ROM Multi-Word DMA Mode 2.

On the multi-session with no finalize, I usually do this if the material that I want to burn is not complete yet. I rarely prefer this myself.

On the firmware update, Windows Update does not show any hints for update and I couldn't find any posted on the web that is younger than mine (using Microsoft version 6.0.6000.16386, which is actually quite old, dated 21 June 2006).

    Hi Rotary,

Thanks again for the reply. I've checked the laptop's (HP Compaq Presario v3204TU) support and driver download site and couldn't find any updated firmware either. I guess I have to bring the laptop to the support centre and have it checked and fix there.

    Many thanks for your support.

    Rotary,

Thanks for the info. I've checked with both software, and since both are using http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php both returns no result. I'm going to try to burn using Imgburn and see how it goes. Will keep you posted on the result.

    Best,

ImgBurn does not burn the media.
So, my laptop is in service centre now.
Thank you all for the help.

I'm afraid there is nothing much to update. The service centre said that they'll just replace the unit (DVD+RW multi-burner, not the laptop). So, we'll never know what is the root cause of the problem.
