im in need of someone's wisdom about my dvd drive, it plays dvd's, it burns dvd's, but when it comes to ripping data off a dvd it goes all wrong... basically it will start ripping at around 3000kbs but after about 2mins that speed keeps dropping and dropping until its ripping at around 80kbs, estimated time goes from 25 mins to 4hours.... the program im using to rip is "Super Clone DVD 5.0.2" (iv even tried just copying and pasting the data from the dvd to the desktop but no joy) any help on this will be very apprieciated
Check the DMA is ON. Use this guide... http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues It's usually the "Generic DVD ROM" one that causes the problem in ripping. Just turn DMA on for all of your IDE controllers and drives. :-D
the dma was on, but when i uninstalled the drivers for the dvd drive and then reinstalled them, it started to work, it rips consistently at around 2500kbs so thanks very much for that info it did the trick!
