I should also just say that this forum has been such a source of information to me over the last few days even though i haven't had to post!

Anyway, I have an 8cm DVD-RW that i want to erase. I have Sonic RecordNow which has an erase option, but everytime i try i get an error saying that the disc is 'corrupted or scratched'. I tried two seperate discs and both do the same so i don't think this is the problem. I also tried doing them both, one finalized, and one unfinalized, just incase there was a problem with that but i get the same error. I then downloaded some free burning software off the internet which said it could erase but it just came up with 'error' again.

I don't have a Nero program although my Mum does at work so she says she will go and try. I might try on our DVD recorder too but its such a hassle and i'm thinking that if the discs don't work in two programs they probably won't work in anything else?

Does anyone have any tips? Its v. annoying as the discs are quite expensive and i've filled them all up, and i can't afford to keep buying them for one use!

    Thanks in advance.

    Try erasing them with ImgBurn.

Just tried that program and still get an error, however i can easily clear it using my DVD recorder. Although this is a little annoying as its not on the computer i guess it'll have to do!

The dvd's were made by my camcorder, i've tried them both finalized and unfinalized.

From what I could gather from the ImgBurn forum it's pretty much a drive/firmware issue and not what software you use. Your drive is having issues with that media.
What type of drive do you have? Is the firmware up to date?
Your drive may simply not like the media you're using.

i would imagine the drive would need to be new to be capable of reading the smaller 8cm dvd and utilizing the full funtionality of burn and erase feature of any software...

as you say you tried many erase apps all with error, but drive is still the same.
