I have a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1502 and when I try to burn a DVD it ejects the blank DVD I put in and says there is no DVD present although there is one. I have tried meny different blank DVDs within two different brands. I used two different programs also, DVD Shrink and Nero 6 Ultra Edition. They both say the same thing when it is time to burn. Also when I insert a blank DVD the message to select what you want to do with it pops up and says it is a blank CD. It said that with a few different disks of two different brands that I have used. I hope one of you will know what to do and be able to help me. Thanks in advance.
it is a DVD-ROM drive which means it only READS dvd's it will NOT BURN dvd's, you will have to get a dvd burner for that
No, that is the driver I have for it, I formatted my computer and that is what Windows XP gave it. Before I formatted my computer it burned fine. I guess I need another driver but where would I get one and what specific things might I have to look for on the drive so that I get the right one?
Go into your device manager and remove the Toshiba drive. Then reboot and see if Windows reinstalls it properly. I think you are saying you have a dvd burner but Windows installed it as a dvd Rom. Do you have another dvd rom on the same system? Jerry
I do have another DVD-ROM on the system, but that has a different driver. I removed it and restarted and now it has a new driver. When I put in a blank DVD it says it is a blank CD. I tried burning in Nero, I can hear it turning and trying to burn, but it will only do that for two seconds then stop. After that it will eject the disc and bring it back in again only to eject it again and say that it has failed. It also says "Book Type automatically set to: DVD-ROM." That can't be good. I hope this more recent information helps. Oh yeah, the driver windows gave it is DVDRW IDE1008, I think that is the driver. Oh, and if I go into My Computer and Properties of that drive, it says under the Recording tab that it is a CD-R drive.
Help!!! I have a toshiba notebook with a toshiba sd-r6012 cd/dvd RW drive. My problem is that when I change from one disk to another and open the browser or (D) drive it appears the computer still thinks the previous disk is still in the drive. I have to reboot my computer for the new disk to show in the (D) drive. This happens whether I go from a game disk to a blank (to burn music) or from one game to another...Makes no sense...Needless to say it is quite annoying. I would appreciate any help I can get to solve this problem.
