what should the target dvd size be in mb if i were to customize my target size.......i heard in the past that you shouldn't use exactly 4.7gb because it writes too close to the edge of the dvd and so the movie will skip

If you are not having any trouble and or using good media then you can use the standard size that DvdShrink is set for, 4.6GB I think. But if you have trouble towards the end of the disc with skipping, freezing, pixilation, etc. or you are using cheap media, then I would drop down to 4.4GB or 4444MB. These keeps off the edge of the disc and can save on the cost of aspirin for all your headaches. Your best plan would be to use quality media and avoid all the hassles that come along with the cheap stuff.

4.7 GB on a DVD is different than 4.7 GB on your hard drive. A DVD will only hold 4.38 GB from hard drive. Make all your DVD files no more than 4.38 GB and you should have no trouble.
