Yeah so I've been trying to get Dvds to play on my PC for a while now but never got it to work. I never bothered with it till it got real annoying so I wanna try and solve it:

I downloaded "PowerDVD", and tried to play a DVD. The sound plays, but I get a black screen. I don't think its a codec problem cause when I switch between full screen and original size modes, I can see the visual for a split second and then it will go black again... I tried WMP and Realplayer but they don't seem to work. Anyone have any ideas? Please help!

    Thanks in advance!

Sounds more like a hardware problem. Video card, isn't up to snuff or the monitor. What do you have? I've got PowerDVD, I'll try to help you debug it.

    Thanks for the reply!

My Video card is: e-GeForce 6800 GS
My Monitor is: 22 inch LCD widescreen Gateway (FPD2185W)

My resolution setting is on: 1680x1500

I am not too sure if my resolution has anything to do with it cause I changed it and still had the same problem... hope this helps, and thanks again for replying!
