Hi, I have a DVD backup which starts playing from the first chapter instead of from the root menu, how do I change this? I have tried reading around these forums to solve this problem but I can't find anything useful.
    Thanks

Depending on what program you are using but, most you have to assign the menu with [bold]make first play [/bold] and this usually will fix the problems that you are having.

Thanks for your reply, which program should I use to do this? Can it be done with IfoEdit?

i think higgo23 meant which program you used to backup the dvd?

by what you said it sounds like there still is a root menu which again depending on which program you used may not be there at all to save space

i suggest using dvd shrink to make you backups its got lot of options to reduce the size when going from dvd9 to dvd5 ...includeing allowing you to keep menus and extras

Right OK. I used DVD Shrink for the backup (I always do), and there is a root menu - if you go to "Root Menu" in PowerDVD it goes there, but it starts playing from a different place when you insert the DVD.
    Thanks

hmm thats weird ...its never happend to me before so i dont really know what to tell ya. does the original also do this ...if not then maye just try backing it up again with dvd shrink

if not then your gonna have to edit the .ifo which isnt anything ive ever done before but ive read that ifo edit is a good tool for this:
    http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=IfoEdit

thats a description if it with a lick for dl ...also scrolll down some and there are a bunch of guides on using it

Yeh I was expecting to have to use IfoEdit, or some other tool, I just thought someone might be able to give me some pointers on how to use it to change the "first play".
