Theres a load of software out there.

Personally i use Jesterware DVD to iPod, it seems to create the better video quality, on par with Nero Recode.
CloneDVDMobile is good, but lacking some features.

    just my 2p

First, iPod doesn't support AVI format, it only support MPEG-4 and H.264.
If you want convert DVD to iPod video format, I recommend the article to you:

I hate these type of sites.
    >> hxxp://www.bestbuyreviews.com/dvd-ipod-converter/
    >> hxxp://www.convert-soft.com/article/DVD-to-iPod-comparison.html

Reason being, that they are simply RegNow affiliates, the owners of these website will get commission if you buy the product from the links on their pages. Not that I'm against people making money, but I don't think they have the interest's of the buyer as the number 1 priority. There is no way I would just buy some software from a site like those, based on the fact its got 5 stars and more ticks than the other products.

    just my 2p.

    Cheers
