dvd to vcd scratchresistance versatility

ok i have a 3 year old daughter so what im asking is will a dvd to dvd or a dvd to vcd hold up better with scratchresistance i can do both but was wondering which was better at handleing a 3 year old or vs versa lol cause the vcd's i make for her with mpeg's from my comp have gotten scratched to hell and back and still play back pretty well id have to have to waste both kinds of discs and screw them up on purpose just to find out im hoping someone else would know already thanks in advance ED-D
