could some one help me out with a very low tech situation? I have searched the site, and have not found the answer. If I have missed it-- sorry. How do I wire my dvd and vcr to my home theater, so I can record dvd to vhs and get play back. right now I've got lines going every where, and not getting it right. AHRRGH
Hi oleke, When you play a dvd through a VCR you are probably getting a blue screen and maybe some audio only. The encryption on the dvd is kicking in the Macrovision protection in the VCR not allowing you to copy the dvd. You need to purchase a Macrovision remover box to put in line between the dvd player and the VCR in the video line . This will remove the copy protection and allow you to copy the dvd to tape. You can find the box on line for around $40. Just do a search for macrovision removers. The wires go DVD out to VCR in--VCR out to TV. Jerry
Thank you jerry746, I'll give that a try. so it sounds like I can only record from dvd to vcr to tv in line without the theater system. or get a macrovision remover box.
As long as the macrovision box is on the dvd player video output, everything else will clear up. The audio output doest matter much so you can feed it into the speaker system. Jerry
