I converted an avi movie to DVD using dvdSanta. Its a widescreen movie.

When I play it, it comes out with the letterbox cut off and almost liked its zoomed in. When I use my PC DVD player it comes out normal with the correct letterbox.

There are some settings on the application but I am not sure which ones should be set at what. There are three categories for Video Resolution: High (720x400, Medium (352x380, and Low (352x240); I have left it as High. The other setting is Aspect Ratio: Full Screen (4:3) and Wide Screen (16:9); I have tried both.

So at first I converted to widescreen although the avi was already wide screen and then I tried full screen but I got the same result. It was fine on PwerDVD but not so fine on my Panasonic (I think) DVD player.

Is this a setting on my DVD player that I need to change?

    Any ideas????

    Thanks,
    A

Try using TMPGEnc Plus for the conversion. You need to set it up prior to first use so see guides for it(esp. VFAPI settings.)
    http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tp.html

See a guide for doing the conversion but what you want for playing a 16x9 on a regular NTSC TV is to use "full screen keep aspect ratio 2"
in the TMPGEnc Plus advanced settings(the guide should have screen shots
where the settings are hidden.) I do this all the time for watching 16x9 Japanese TV show downloads on my 4:3 TV and it works well.
