DVD X Copy Install Problem

Bought the retail version apparently 2 days before 321 shutdown (maybe I should buy a lottery ticket). Tried to return it, but no luck (Staples no return policy on s/w once opened even if the vendor is DOA). So now I am trying to use/debug it.

Came to this forum as the 321 site redirected me here when I was clicking around on the FAQ part.

Problem is that X Copy never sees my burner or any other drive for that matter. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling using the NEC DVD 8x burner as the install drive and made some progress. When I did this DVD Rescue appears to see it (has a green circle) but X Copy Plat keeps telling me to run Drive Select and Drive Select has no drives in the pull down menu.

Checked the FAQ, it says for this problem contact customer support ... so either I'm out the hundred bucks or if anyone out there has a suggestion or another discussion board to try - I'd be grateful.

Not sure exactly what version I've got because I can't locate and "About" page to verify. Looked at a log file in the prog directory and it says it installed correctly. Looked in LOG subdirectory under Platinum and it appears to say it is ver 3.2.1 Also they appear to say drive resource not found.

Guts of 1 log file (all have the same entries):
Setting up resource for DVDAPI
Loading Resource
Drive Settings were not located! Selecting first drive.
Using Selected Drive:
Using Selected Drive Index: 0

Any suggestions or ideas where else to look would be appreciated.
