nice try but a pirated user id will not work. Buy the original or call the company.

lol. yeah nice try. when you purchase their software they give you a unique userid and password based on information you provided when you ordered. if you really did purchase it, call the company.

Otherwise save yourself the trouble and go free. use dvd decypter and/or shrink, then burn with nero or something like it.

they may be alittle harder to use though.

dvd x copy sucks in my opinion.

Just like DVD Fast Copy - the same 1001 registration steps, checks and balances. In the end, a crap program. Try the free alternatives combined with Nero. You'll be much happier.

DVD Fast Copy? Hmm...never heard of that program. According to your post its sounds like DVD X Copy. I guess it all comes down to whether you want to go easy to use or easy on your wallet. Your usually gonna pay for easy to use.

I guess someone just read my post in here, because someone just PM'ed me saying they just ordered X Copy Plat and also asked why I didn't like it. I basically said what you said [bold]jizzie[/bold]. People need to look around before they waste the $100+.

    @leviticus

DVD Fast Copy originates out of Germany - the land of many many senseless laws and restrictions. The registration of this software is comparable to a police control. Unbelievable.

To the purchasers and users of expensive software like DVD X Copy Platinum - perhaps it would be good to try the free stuff first before shelling out $150 (or so). Often one will find that the expensive software is just the same as the free one, wrapped in a much prettier package however.

    Looks aren't everything ;-o

Good morning everyone, wherever everyone is.
In regards to the 'free ware' available out there, I was trying to find out if the DVD X Copy Platinum I purchased this last Saturday, Feb 28th has the ripper or not, but the person that I talked to at 321 said that he 'couldn't tell me anything because of the injunction', but as far as the stores were concerned, they supposedly weren't affected.. How can I find out if the Platinum that I purchased has the ripper or not, before I open the package. ALSO, regarding the 'free ware' available out there that 'suposedly' does exactly the same thing, how can I find out where to download these programs, and are they really the same? Will they make exact duplicates of DVD's so they are just like the originals, with trailers, special effects and so on? I have a licensed version of DVD Copy Plus that I never actually got a working copy of any DVD's from, but that was from last year and may not be the right product to do that. Please give me more information if you could about what programs I need in order to do exactly what X Copy Platinum does, in hopes that I can save some $$. Platinum was rather expensive, and I could probably use the money better for paying necessarry bills instead. Thanks for the help. <Mike>

I will try to answer a couple of questions. First, under the injunction stores may sell there remaining copies of DVD X COPY with the ripper until there supply runs out. After that, any new copies of DVD X COPY will not include the ripper. Second, any copies bought after February 26th from the company will not include the ripper. If you bought a valid copy of DVD X COPY you must call 321studios to get an activation key. I have never heard of DVD FAST Copy. I bought DVD X COPY PLATINUM before I was aware of the free ripping software available. Since then, I have bought NERO and CLONEDVD to supplement DVDSHRINK. The reason I had to do this was because until the last update of DVD X COPY I could not get it to work on my computer. Since I am a programmer, I find DVDSHRINK easy to use and find CLONEDVD even easier to use. I can also run two instances of DVDSHRINK at the same time since I have two DVD drives. I can burn it to a DVD later and if there is a failure I can burn it to another blank DVD. I like to do this because I have a PENTINUM III and compression and deencryption time take a long time on my machine while burning to a DVD is about same whether you have a fast or slow machine.

This is to pa104inf - Now I'm a little confused.
You have DVDSHRINK, Nero and CloneDVD? Does clone or shrink have a ripper with them?
I have Nero so I know that doesn't have it.
What does one need in order to produce exact back up of DVD's? When I loan out a movie that I have purchased, I sometimes get it back in not so great shape, so I need something that will make an exact copy, just like the original so I can give out the copy, and if it's damaged, then I I can make a new one. I did find out from 321 yesterday that the XCopy Platinum will have an 'RF' after the platinum if it is the newer version without the ripper. The one I bought in the store Sat the 28th does not have the RF after it. Please let me know what programs I would need and how hard are th ey to use. Thanks a lot for the info.

Ok, to rehash what I said previously, I own the following programs: DVD X COPY PLATINUM, NERO, and CLONEDVD. I also use DVDSHRINK which is free and available on this forum. DVDSHRINK is a ripper as well as the old version of DVD X COPY PLATINUM (bought in December). NERO and CLONEDVD are compressors and copiers (no ripper capability). I should restate the reason I bought additional programs. When I first bought DVD X COPY PLATINUM, I couldn't get it to work. I tried everything before I gave up on it. I then had to look for another way to make backups of my DVDs. I came upon this forum and started using DVDSHRINK to compress and deencrypt the DVDs I wanted to make backup copies of. Once the DVD was on my harddrive I then would use CLONEDVD or NERO to copy it to a blank DVD. I should point out that if you own the newest version of NERO which I do you can copy it to a DVD automatically while still in DVDSHRINK. You are right, NERO and CLONEDVD are copiers and not rippers. DVDSHRINK and the old version of DVD X COPY PLATINUM have ripper capability. I finally did get DVD X COPY PLATINUM to work after downloading the last update to the program before the February 26th deadline. This makes me think that 321studios knew that there were problems with there program. I think that they will have problems selling there ripper free version of DVD X COPY because of the price of the product and the fact that both NERO and CLONEDVD as well as other programs copy better at less than half the price. I would use DVDSHRINK to deencrypt and compress the image to your harddisk and once there use either NERO, CLONEDVD or DVD X COPY RF to write the DVD image back to a blank DVD MEDIA. If your operating system is WINDOWS 2000 or WINDOWS XP you can use DVD X COPY RF with DVD43 which is free (available on this forum) and will do the DEENCRYPTING for DVD X COPY.

Everybody talks about all these other programs and how great they are, but the guy asked about making exact copies. All these other programs compress the movies before copying. I have a 57 inch HD tv and compressed movies look like crap on it. I found that DVD X Copy Plat. makes exact copies even though a lot of movies take up 2 DVDs because they're over 4.3GB with trailers and everything, and they look as good as the original on a big screen. I also had problems with Platinum until I did a clean install of XP without any of the blacklisted programs installed. My computer was getting too full of junk anyway. Its much faster now and I've made many copies since without a problem. If you don't mind compressed movies, then DVD Shrink (and it's free!) is a great program. Compressed movies look fine on a 36 in. or smaller tv.
