can anyone tell me the newbie why i can't rip and burn lord of the rings(the last part). I get an cannot read sectors message. Does it have a new protection. I have 3.2.1 which works great on other movies. but this particular movie is killing me. I just bought it and want to make a copy of it but can't. does it have some type of new protection and if so is their a patch. i appreciate any insight on this matter.

a "read sectors" error means the disc is either scratched/dirty (clean it and try again) or was pressed with errors at the factory (nothing you can do cept ask for a new one)

Or try DVD Rescue but even if Rescue works the compression will seriously affect the quality of the back up. This movie is pretty long...

So your saying Rescue's backup will have a worse picture than using Platinum? I've haven't ever noticed a differenc between the two.

and to think about it... Xpress doesn't even have Rescue.

No new protections - more likely faulty original.

lor3 is encodable and buranable with standard programs available from this site

flip218, If you read blackbam2 original post he mentioned that he has 3.2.1 which I presume is Platinum3.2.1 which does come with Rescue. If he did use Rescue on LTR3 Rescue will copy the entire disk including menus and extras if they are not on a separate disk and that`s why I said the quality will suffer noticebly because that particular movie is very long indeed. I have copied it with Shrink cutting out everything that I could and the resulting one disk copy was not very good. Can not argue with experience.

I had the same issue but found that I had to clean the disk and then copy the movie only because it is a very long movie. I tried DVD Shrink but it kept repeating the same scenes over and over. So I copied just the movie with XCopy Xpress version 3.2.3.435 which if you don't have this version you can find it at http:/www.majorgeeks.com. This version will just update your software if you already have 3.2.1 version on your system.

    Yordan,

Acutally I thought about the title of the tread.. [bold]dvd x copy xpress[/bold]. So I will assume he's using Xpress v3.2.1, until he's states he's using Platinum.

Fair enough, that was my interpretation only. Hope he`s had the problem sorted.

    Yordan,

I've put LOTR on one disc, and I thought the quality was good. What type of media are you using? But, the best results I had was using DVD Rebuilder w/ CCE Basic. The picture was perfect (IMO). Only problem is that process is 3-4 hours.

I used Ritek GO4, I`m not saying the quality was terrible but I could tell the difference straight away I`ve also read about DVD Rebuilder and know that it gives very good results but I do not know how to use it. It`ll probablly take me some time to read the guides and then try it. For the time being I`m happy with what Shrink and Platinum can do for me but if you think Rebuilder is worth the time I`ll give it a try.

    hey guys,
I don't know what's up. I cleaned the lor3 and tried to burn it. in the decryption stage it gets stuck at 37%. I get an error message. Unable to read DVD. I am not using Platnium but DVD X Copy Xpress. To make sure my program wasn't faulty I burned Love Don't Cost A Thing, and it was perfect. Thank u guys for all the information and tips.

If the disk isn`t scratched then it seems like a bad factory copy.

    blackbam2,

Try and get a new disk, or try a different method (Shrink and Decrypter)

    Yordan,

As far as DVD Rebuider... It's worth it if you've got 3-4 hours a movie :)
