I have a question Is there a way to remove the "DVD-Backup" Screen that Xcopy Xpress puts on a DVD when you copy it. I have noticed that some dvd players hang on that screen when they try to play it. there is not any option to do this removal but there is a way. first get a dvd+rw copy the movie rip it back to harddrive then remove that menu then use an authoring prog to burn vob's and ifo's let me know how this worked tor you but 321 studios does not really want you to make copies w/o menu there
Which file do they put the backup warning in? I have looked in the IFO and VOB files and can't see it.
Go to forum start page, click on dvd+r one click transcoding tools. Psidoc wrote a small program to remove the 321 backup screen very easily. It only works if you backup movie only not complete disk. You can download it from there. Works for me on Windows ME, he wrote it on XP. Jerry
OK, after searching all over for how to remove the 123 warning from DVD XCOPY XPRESS and finding the same mediocre solutions, I finally broke down and figured out how to do. Meaning you can copy the DVD and have it play back exactly like or close to the way it appears on the original without the warning and retaining all or most of the original DVD content. Assuming you want all the menus and such. It's not quite as quick as the ones posted or the patch but not a whole lot of extra work either. Just a couple extra steps. You will need IFOEDIT to do this. The other method using IFO edit DOES work but it maked the DVD jump right into the movie upon insertion of the DVD and you have to exit back to the menu if you want to change settings. My way will allow you to start at the menu or possibly even allow the DVD to run exactly as the original does depending on how it was mastered. 1) Start DVD XCOPY XPRESS *without* a blank in your recorder and make the backup as usual. 2) When it's done copying the files, minimize DVD XPRESS (Do NOT Close it!) and open IFOEDIT Load the VIDEO_TS.IFO file from the DVD XPRESS temp folder. (I will assume you know where it is or how to find it. You may also want to make a copy of it in case you mess it up accidentally to prevent having to re-rip it.) 3) In the top window, click on 'VMGM_MAT' and expand it. Then click below that where it says 'First Play PGC' 4) Switch to the lower window and scroll all the way to the bottom and find where it says '1.Pre Command' NOTE: Up to this point this is the same technique as posted everywhere else. If you want your DVD Backup to start playing the movie immediately without displaying any menus or anything then jump ahead to STEP 10. You can have the movie start up automatically and still retain all the menus using this method. 5) Click the DVD PLAY button on the bottom of the IFOEDIT window. The screen will blank and 2 new windows will pop up; A play window where the dvd video will be displayed and a control window below that. 6) Press the stop button on the bottom left of the control window to stop the video. 7) On the control window you will see a section of pull-down tabs labled 'JUMP'. Here is where we will find the actual start point of the DVD. 8) Click the TITLE pull down tab and start clicking on the titles displayed. You want to find the title that is closest to the start point of the CD as possible. For my example I use the GLADIATOR DVD. note: On the Gladiator DVD, TITLE 1 is the movie, Title 2 is the Dreamworks intro and Title 3 is the Sony DTS intro. When you select a title the DVD will automatically start playing from that point and by going through all the Title options you will be able to determine what Title you want to use as your start point. In GLADIATOR's case, Title 2 shows the dreamworks logo then goes right into the DVD menu, which is what I want. Remember, the title will be different for different movies so you will have to try them all to see which one you like best as your start point. 9) Now that I've determined that I want to use title 2 as my start point, click the EXIT button on the right side on the control window and you will be returned to the normal IFOEDIT screen you had before clicking PLAY. 10) Make sure you've scrolled down to to where it says '1. Pre Command', right click your mouse on it to bring up the option menu and select 'CHANGE COMMAND'. 11) When the window pops up, pull down the 'Command' menu and select '(Jump_TT) Jump to Title' Then in the 'Title NR:' option below that, select the # of the title that you decided was the best start point on your DVD. In my case I chose Title 2 so I select #2 from the pull down.** Then click OK. **For those who want to skip all crap and go strait to the start of the movie, you will always select Title 1. This seems to be the case for MOST of the DVD's I have tried it on. (I did have one where I had to start on Title 6 to start the movie from the beginning.) 12) Now you'll want to save your new IFO file over the old one. (Remember you might want to make a backup of the original IFO just in case. I never do but then again I live dangerously) 13) Once you've saved your new IFO, click on the DVD PLAY button again and IFOEDIT will play the DVD with the new IFO and you can see if it worked. It should play from the point you selected when you previewed the title list back in STEP 8. 14) If everything looks ok then close IFOEDIT and maximize your DVD XCOPY XPRESS program again. Insert a blank DVD and click OK. When it's done you should have a nice copy of your original DVD without the annoying 8 second warning message. It sounds complicated but it really isn't if you follow the directions carefully. Hey everyone I bought DVD X Copy Xpress to make my DVD backups with. It has worked well for me, allowing me to make great backups of many of my most prized DVD's. Unfortunately, some of my masters got stolen out of my apartment during a break-in last week. Luckily my backups were kept in a seperate place. What I want to know now is if anyone knows how to make a backup of a backup. Looks like this software doesn't want to allow you to do this, probably for piracy reasons. Anyone know a loophole or another program that will make another copy of a backup origionally made with X Copy? Thanks Aaron
Hi Arkangel, To copy a backup, try any of the disc copy programs as in Nero or Recordnow. Insert movie disc, click copy disc, insert blank when it tells you. Done Jerry
I would suggest using DVD Decrytper and DVD2One. Just an idea. I think the protection that 321 Studios has encoded into it will not allow you to use a straight copy (i.e. using Nero or RecordNOW). Just my 2 cents. I also have bought the 321Studios software. I mainly use it now for episodial DVD's like The Soprano's".
321studios backup protection only works if you try to use their software to backup a copy again. I never had a problem using something like Nero to make a 2nd copy. Jerry
DVD Decrypter,DVDFab,Elbys CloneDVD and DVD Shrink 2.3..They do the same thing as Xcopy but without the Logo Screen. All except CloneDVD are free......
