I must say I'm impressed with DVD2One, but I just can't figure out how it works. I mean, I know how to use it and the results are excellent, but what encoder is it using? The executable is only 94 KB, seems like little room for an MPEG-2 encoder. So it looks more like a front-end to me, but then... what encoder is it using? The one provided with WinXP? This would explain why some people (see post below - DVD2One is crap) get poor results and others get excellent results, maybe because they have (unknowingly) updated XP or installed any other kind of prog that included a newer (better?) encoder? Or could they really fit a decent encoder into 94 KB? That would be very interesting, since the speed is amazing (about 20 minutes, versus 8 hours with Rempeg2).
It doesn't encode the video (i.e. procees the video and build it again), but compresses it. Slightly more detailed explanation is available in this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/20328
